And the Winner is White

Sep 18th, 2007 | By Joe McDonald | Category: NYSR Blog

Dave Liffiton tied it and then a tip in by Hugh Jessiman to give the white a 3-2 win. Jessiman, the former first round pick, is trying to impress this camp. Skating today with Straka and Drury, he looked strong using his body to open up space.
I will have more later, but now I want [...]

After 2

Sep 18th, 2007 | By Joe McDonald | Category: NYSR Blog

.Marcel Hossa scored for the Blue, and Chris Drury for the White as the Blue leads the White 2-1 after 2.
After the top lines playing for the first half, we saw the lower lines getting all or most of the time as the period came to a close. That meant more hitting and checks becuase [...]

Sep 18th, 2007 | By Joe McDonald | Category: NYSR Blog

The first period of the Blue-White game saw Sean Avery core the only goal as the Blue team leads 1-0.
Brendan Shanahan is not playing due to rest, so Avery is on the top line with Jaromir Jagr and Scott Gomez. Chris Drury is centering Marty Straka and Hugh Jessiman on the top line for the [...]

Dog and Keith Hernandez Night

Sep 14th, 2007 | By Joe McDonald | Category: NYSR Blog

It’s Dog night here at Shea with the people in the Picnic Area bringing there pets and marching them around the stadium. Also they are giving out Keith Hernandez mustaches to kids who are wearing them around.
But it really should be old man night with both Tom Glavine and Jamie Moyer facing off against each [...]

Number Change

Sep 14th, 2007 | By Joe McDonald | Category: NYSR Blog

Jeff Conine will now wear No. 19. After seeing Sandy Alomar wearing that number in the dinner room the other day, the catcher offered it to Conine, who wore it most of his career.
And no, he didn’t have tp pay Alomar off, since the catcher felt there were no hits in it according to Conine.
Alomar [...]

Sep 14th, 2007 | By Joe McDonald | Category: NYSR Blog

There were two scrimmage games at the MSG Training Center this morning. The more interesting of the two – and the one I was there for – took place around noon when the Blue team, with Jaromir Jagr, Scott Gomez and Marcel Hossa, took on the Green, with Sean Avery, Brendan Shanahan and Chris Drury.
In [...]

We spoke to Chris Drury and he said he felt that ready.
Playing on a team of stars in Colorado, he seems to be ready to be part of that atmosphere again in New York. He said he was ready to put the team first, even if it means less ice time for him. Drury said: [...]
