Not much going on today
Jul 3rd, 2008 | By Joe McDonald | Category: NYSR BlogAfter yesterday’s festivities, we are seeing Jaromir Jagr in a holding pattern in deciding with future. Taking the Matts Sundin route, Jagr issued a statement through his agent that he will take a few days to decide his future. Edmonton, Broadway or Omsk?
And that future probably won’t be in Pittsburgh who signed Islander retreads, Ruslan Fedotenko on a one year, $2.5 million and Miro Satan gets $3.5 million next season, so there’s probably no room for Jagr.
Marty Straka is also gone. Rumored and denied last week, Straka is going back to the Czech Republic to play in Plsen according to the Hockey News:
“Reports surfaced last week that Straka would return to play in his native Czech Republic, but those reports were later denied. A source close to the situation has now confirmed Straka will indeed leave the NHL. Straka spent last season with the Rangers, collecting 14 goals and 41 points in 61 games.During his NHL career, the native of Pizen amassed 257 goals and 717 points in 954 games with the Penguins, Senators, Islanders, Panthers, Kings and Rangers.”
And in the most shocking development of the day, Marcel Hossa signs in Russia, bet you were not expecting that one!
More as it come in.
