Jul 9th, 2008 | By Joe McDonald | Category: New York Mets, Top Stories

FLUSHING, NY - Back in Spring Training if anyone thought Mike Pelfrey would be the Mets best pitcher come the All-Star break, he or she would have been laughed at and thought to be a kook.
Not even Pelfrey himself would have figured he would be this good.
Yet, there he was at Shea Stadium tonight mowing [...]

It didn’t take Jaromir Jagr long to finally decide where to play next season. Actually the decision was done only hours after Glen Sather took the Rangers out of the running.

Jagr Era Ends With Signing of Naslund

Jul 4th, 2008 | By Joe McDonald | Category: Top Stories

No one can blame Glen Sather for rejecting Jaromir Jagr’s proposal to come back as the highest paid Ranger. After all, the team wanted to spend its money on defense, while trying to get quicker up front.
So with Jagr dragging his feet with a decision and Sather no able to give him an incentive based [...]

Not much going on today

Jul 3rd, 2008 | By Joe McDonald | Category: NYSR Blog

After yesterday’s festivities, we are seeing Jaromir Jagr in a holding pattern in deciding with future. Taking the Matts Sundin route, Jagr issued a statement through his agent that he will take a few days to decide his future. Edmonton, Broadway or Omsk?
And that future probably won’t be in Pittsburgh who signed Islander retreads, Ruslan [...]

Lamoriello Signs Former Heroes

Jul 3rd, 2008 | By Joe McDonald | Category: NHL Stories

Lou Lamoriello apparently went into this offseason trying to prove Thomas Wolf wrong.
Because apparently in New Jersey, you can go home again.
The Devils general manager started shopping on Tuesday looking for more offense and he came up with some very familiar names. First he inked Brian Rolston to a four year, $20 million contract and [...]

Rangers Trade for Zherdev; Jagr Still Uncertain

Jul 3rd, 2008 | By Joe McDonald | Category: Featured Stories, New York Rangers

Sean Avery got away and Jaromir Jagr may be the next to go. Even the always lucrative Cablevision money isn’t enough to get the big name this year to the Garden.
So what’s Glen Sather to do?
Make a trade, of course.
After inking Wade Redden and Michal Rozsival on Tuesday, Sather delt some of his blue line [...]

Avery Leaves the Spotlight of Boradway for the Stars of Big D

Jul 3rd, 2008 | By Joe McDonald | Category: New York Rangers, Top Stories

Martin Brodeur may have been the happiest player in the New York area yesterday.
No, it’s not because his Devils re-acquired Scott Niedermayer and Scott Stevens didn’t come out of retirement.
It’s because his nemesis Sean Avery is out of the conference, signing a four years deal with the Dallas Stars worth $15.5 million
In a move rumored [...]
