And That’s One

Apr 10th, 2008 | By Joe McDonald | Category: NYSR Blog

Well, that looked easy didn’t it?
With the Rangers coming through for two goals in the third, the Blueshirts take home ice back for a 1-0 lead in the series.
And this was a Devil Fans nightmare. Their ‘favorites’ like Scott Gomez and Sean Avery performed and Marty Brodeur looked like a rookie out there [or at [...]

NYSD: Blueshirts Bite Sharks

Feb 18th, 2008 | By Joe McDonald | Category: NYSR Blog

NEW YORK – A month ago, Jonathan Cheechoo’s first period goal would have sent the Rangers into a funk. A month ago, the Rangers would have tried too hard to come back and then the Sharks would have taken advantage of a mistake to add to their lead. But now, all of that is in [...]

Wolf Pack Weekly Jan. 28

Jan 28th, 2008 | By Joe McDonald | Category: NYSR Blog

I haven’t gotten these for the past few weeks:
The Wolf Pack went into the AHL’s All-Star break on a high, sweeping three games last week and allowing a total of only one goal in the process. After not managing to shut out any opponents in their first 44 games, the Pack posted two zeros in [...]

The Centers of Attention

Dec 18th, 2007 | By Joe McDonald | Category: NYSR Blog

Tom Renney apparently had enough and decided to shuffle the lines to something more conventional before the Rangers take on the Pens tonight.
Scott Gomez will now be centering Jaromir Jagr and Marty Straka with Chris Drury becoming Brendan Shanahan’s pivot. Brandon Dubinsky goes to line No. 3 with Ryan Callahan and Petr Prucha.
Now this makes [...]

Avery Practices Today and Moore Up

Dec 11th, 2007 | By Joe McDonald | Category: NYSR Blog

As a precaution, the Rangers called up Greg Moore to skate with the team today, in case Ryan Callahan was a no-go. He wasn’t and was returned to Hartford afterwards.
Sean Avery though did practice in a non-contact drill, wearing the yellow jersey.
Now, Avery said he expects to play tomorrow,  but expect to have him have [...]

Now Onto The Isles

Nov 29th, 2007 | By Joe McDonald | Category: NYSR Blog

Sean Avery had wrist surgery today at 5:30 and the Islanders came in an hour and half later.
The Isles went to a six round shootout last night beating the now slumping Ottawa Senators and may be tired for the game at the Garden.
But these are the Rangers they are playing and the Isles tend to [...]

Avery To Go Under Knife

Nov 28th, 2007 | By Joe McDonald | Category: NYSR Blog

The Rangers announced Sean Avery will have arthroscpic surgery on his left wrist tomorrow, before the Islander game, so he will be out for the near future.
Avery said to me after the last Islander game at the Garden, he hurt the wrist in the “Tucker Fight” as he was leaving. HE then had a puck [...]

Dubinsky Gets A Step Up

Sep 22nd, 2007 | By Joe McDonald | Category: NYSR Blog

With two assists on the night and the first star, Brandon Dubinsky made his case to be on this team when the season starts on October 4.
“Obviously, that’s my ultimate goal to be here,” he said. ”So I’m just trying to go out every night to [show] our management and coaching staff. That’s what I am fighting [...]
