A few years ago, right after another failed attempt the Mets to get Manny Ramirez, Yankee general manager Brain Cashman joked with reporters that he was willing to toss in a few prospects if it meant getting Ramirez out of the division.
Mets GM Omar Minaya should check with Cashman to see if the offer still [...]

And in true baseball tradition his teammates recognized his effort with a cool baseball nickname.
“Blackjack”
On the board in the clubhouse the rotation for the weekend was [...]

FLUSHING, NY – Willie Randolph may have been the only one at Shea last night thankful for the rain out. No game meant he still had a win in his back pocket from Friday, and the good will from Oliver Perez’s performance was the only thing not washed away from the storm.
The manager, though, still [...]

The Mets now have 72 hours to complete the deal for Johan Santana and Omar Minaya is not wasting any time by meeting with Santana’s agent Peter Greenberg later today.
Now here’s the problem, the Mets need to compete the deal no mater what. If they don’t it will kill the fanbase, which is already disillusioned, [...]

In a move that may be a precursor to trading Carlos Gomez, the Mets acquired their former farmhand Angel Pagan from the Chicago Cubs.

According to Yahoo! Sports, the Mets, along with the Phillies, extended an offer to free agent pitcher Kyle Lohse, which could go as far as four years.
Now, I am not worried about this. The Mets need an innings eater and Lohse does give that, yet I don’t see the him going to Queens, especially not [...]

Reportedly he signed for one year, $5 million pending a physical.
What a bad offseason for Lo Duca. If his agent didn’t demand the world after the season, he would be a Met. As mentioned here last week, according to a source in Nashville, Omar Minaya wanted to bring Lo Duca back, but when his agent asked for [...]

So after this quiet Winter Meetings, Minaya still has some work to do, but don’t worry, there’s plenty of time left in the offseason. And since there was only one deal with a pitcher – Dontrelle Willis, who Florida [...]
